Stefan Beckman for the February 2010 Hermes Party

Set designer Stefan Beckman transformed the Park Avenue Armory into one of the lushest and most elaborate party spots ever for the Hermes Menswear Store After-Party on February 9, 2010. After six months of research, Beckman and his team of 100 people took two weeks to build 4 separate rooms. 10,000 books were hand-dyed red, yellow, green, blue and brown to create a tranquil library and sitting area. Beckman researched classic 1950's jazz clubs to recreate the space complete with booths, small tables and a stage with live jazz music. The game room mimicked an old-school men's club, but the look was updated with a neon light installation on the back wall. The dock set was designed to look like an opera set: it's dramatic, colorful, and represents travel and trade beautifully.
